Mindroll — Terms of Service

Last updated 17 September 2026

These terms are a contract between you and us. They explain what Mindroll gives you, what we ask of you, and what happens if something goes wrong. Please read them before you subscribe.

1. Who we are

Mindroll is a mobile app operated by a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, trading as Mindroll.

You can reach us at teammindroll@gmail.com. We aim to reply within five working days.

2. Agreeing to these terms

By downloading Mindroll, creating an account or subscribing, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

3. Who can use Mindroll

You must be 13 or over to use Mindroll. If you are under 18, you may only use it with the agreement of a parent or guardian, and they take responsibility for any purchases you make.

You may use Mindroll for your own personal, non-commercial learning.

4. What Mindroll is — and what it is not

Mindroll gives you short written and narrated ideas drawn from books, essays, talks and research, along with tools to save, review and revisit them.

Two things to be clear about:

  • Mindroll is not professional advice. Ideas about money, health, work or relationships are general information written for a wide audience. They are not financial, medical, legal or psychological advice, and you should not treat them as a substitute for a professional who knows your circumstances.
  • Some content is produced automatically. When you paste a link or scan a book, Mindroll can generate a breakdown of it using an automated system. These summaries can be incomplete or wrong. Check anything that matters against the original source.

5. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for what happens on your account. Tell us at teammindroll@gmail.com if you think someone else has access to it.

Please give accurate details when you sign up. One person, one account.

6. The free plan and Mindroll Pro

Mindroll has a free plan and a paid subscription called Mindroll Pro.

Prices. The price, the billing period and any free trial are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency. The price you see at the moment of purchase is the price you pay.

How you are billed. Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play, not by us directly. Payment is taken by Apple or Google using the payment method on your store account.

Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Apple and Google charge you within 24 hours before each renewal.

Free trials. If your subscription starts with a free trial, you are not charged during the trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the subscription begins and you are charged the price shown.

Cancelling. Cancel at any time in your store account settings — Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iOS, or Google Play → Subscriptions on Android. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Refunds. Because Apple and Google take the payment, refunds are handled by them and are subject to their policies. We cannot issue refunds directly, but tell us if something has gone wrong and we will help where we can. Nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Price changes. If we change the price of a subscription, we will tell you beforehand, and you can cancel before the new price applies.

7. What you add to Mindroll

You keep ownership of the notes, collections, reflections and other content you create in Mindroll. By adding it, you give us permission to store it, display it back to you, and — if you deliberately make something public, such as a shared collection — show it to the people you share it with. That permission lasts only as long as we need it to run the service, and ends when you delete the content or your account.

Do not add anything unlawful, abusive, or that infringes someone else's rights. We may remove content that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why where we can.

When you paste a link or scan a book, you confirm that you are allowed to share it with us for that purpose. Mindroll produces its own short breakdown of the source. It does not reproduce the full text of a work, and you must not use the feature to try to obtain one.

9. Rules of use

Please do not:

  • copy, scrape or bulk-download Mindroll's content, or resell it;
  • use Mindroll's content to train a machine-learning model;
  • break, probe or overload the app or our servers, or work around limits on the free plan;
  • use Mindroll to harass anyone or to distribute anything unlawful;
  • pretend to be someone else, or use someone else's account.

If you break these rules we may limit or close your account. Where it is fair to do so, we will warn you first.

10. Our content

The text, narration, artwork, software and design in Mindroll belong to us or to the people we licence them from, and are protected by copyright.

Many of the works Mindroll draws on are in the public domain, and our summaries of them are written in our own words. Book cover images are shown from Open Library and remain the property of their respective publishers. You may share individual ideas using the sharing features in the app.

11. Changes to the app

We improve Mindroll continually, so features may be added, changed or removed. If we remove something significant that you pay for, we will tell you and, if you wish, you may cancel. We do not promise that the app will always be available or uninterrupted, though we work to keep it running.

12. Ending it

You can stop using Mindroll at any time, cancel your subscription in your store account, and delete your account from Settings. Deleting your account removes your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we are required to by law.

13. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.

We do not exclude or limit our responsibility in any way where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, and for your legal rights as a consumer to services that are provided with reasonable care and skill.

We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable, or for business losses — Mindroll is supplied for personal use.

As Mindroll is not professional advice, we are not responsible for decisions you take based on what you read in it.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms — for example when the app changes or the law does. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Mindroll after that means you accept the new terms.

15. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes can be brought in the courts of England and Wales.

If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the European Union, you keep the protection of the consumer laws of the country you live in, and you may bring a claim in your local courts.

16. Complaints

Email teammindroll@gmail.com and tell us what has gone wrong. We would much rather fix it than argue about it.
